NLMK USA is looking for a Operational Technology Engineer for our Portage, Indiana location (NLMK Indiana). The Operations Technology Engineer works with the Manager of Novolipetsk Production System (NPS) and Optimization Technology on the implementation of the NPS for the NLMK Indiana Facility.

To be considered an ideal candidate you will possess a minimum of five years’ experience as an Engineer with a focus on operations versus technical projects. You will possess a four-year Engineering degree or Material Sciences degree. Your experience should reflect a focus on continuous improvement. Job duties

The Operations Technology Engineer works with the Manager of Novolipetsk Production System (NPS) and Optimization Technology on the implementation of the NPS for the NLMK Indiana Facility.

  • Work with NPS project team to continuously improve the NPS including SEI, 6-S and OE.
  • Coordinate the development and tracking of Optimization projects.
  • Coordinate the implementation of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Improvement Plan.
  • Leads Kaizen Events and other continuous improvement initiatives post system implementation.
  • Develops, coordinates and leads continuous improvement initiatives, operational efficiency and Optimization Teams utilizing A3 or similar methodology at the shop floor level from the ground up.
  • Conducts organizational training.
  • Conducts detailed analysis of process and business-level data to calculate project impacts to the business bottom line.

Job requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Four (4) year degree in Engineering or Material Sciences
  • Must have practical experience implementing the following pinnacles of TPS: Establishing Flow, Value Stream Mapping, Standardized Work, Visual Process Management, A3 Methodology, 5S/6S, TPM.
  • High level of demonstrated creativity and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a proven tracked record of training large and small groups at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into comprehensive or simplistic terms.
  • Highly proficient in the use of software including MS Office products, Chart Runner (or other SPC software), Oracle/Discover databases, SQL, SAS and other equivalent applications.

Preferred skills

  • Experience in a steel manufacturing, specifically flat-rolled ferrous or non-ferrous metal, environment a plus.
  • Six Sigma Certification (green belt or higher) is a plus.
  • Experienced in advanced statistical techniques.
  • Well versed in project management and proven ability to lead individuals and teams.
